I have no doubt that teachers and children will enjoy delving into our history by way of this book’s pages and its accompanying on-line resources. The beauty of this publication lies not only in the fact that the reader can derive a great deal of pleasure by reading it; it will also serve as a much needed local history resource when used as part of a structured history programme in schools.

The Great Siege has long been part and parcel of the curricular offering in our Middle Schools and this resource will stand as a very useful starting point for teaching this fascinating subject and pivotal phase of our local history.
